Screen Print
Understanding the performance of both inks and fabrics is paramount. We are committed to finding the best print solution and ink selection specific to the substrate to minimise common problems such as dye migration, cracking and adhesion. New fabrics are constantly being developed, so we remain on our toes producing solutions to these problems which at times can prove challenging but rarely impossible.
We constantly sample fresh techniques on new and specialised fabrics for testing prior to production. Once a procedure is proven to be successful, documentation is made in precise detail for all future references.
Taking advantage of our wide range of inks and techniques, we are able to achieve the look and performance you envisage on the fabric you require. These inks extend beyond the full colour gamut to include others such as Metallic, Glitter, Phosphorescent, Fluorescent, Puff, Hi-square, Photochromic, Aqua-chromic, Stretch and UV clear.
Prepress
Our prepress knowledge is the very definition of cutting edge. Traditional spot colour, True four colour CMYK, Duo, Index, Simulated multi-spot and True-tone colour separations are all processes we use to effect, ensuring the most accurate reproduction possible to simulate original artwork.
All film is processed using our top-shelf Epson digital printers and Fastrip software.
Our experience with selecting the correct screen count leaves you with full coverage without over saturation enabling the print to be vivid, sharp and feeling as soft as possible.
Transfers
Typically, what can’t be screen printed directly onto substrate can at most times be transferred. Commonly, there are four transfer processes we recommend.
Digital Transfers
Multi-colour and photographic digitally printed transfers are available in various performance grades to compliment a vast range of materials. These have a soft feel on most fabrics and can be cut to within very extreme tolerances meaning no more unsightly borders for the majority of artwork. When transferring to Polyesters however, a heavier film is used to minimise migration. Digital transfers are not as abrasion resistant as a traditional screen print, though they do offer an ideal multi-colour alternative for small runs, tight budgets and problematic substrates.
Screen Printed Transfers
Screen printed plastisol transfers are certainly the best solution for larger print runs where a direct screen print is not possible. Ranging from mono to multi-colour, they give a soft feel and excellent wash fastness. Screen printed transfers are often more expensive than a traditional, direct screen print.
Cut Transfers
One colour cut transfers are commonly used for sports numbering and individual naming. Simple logos or artwork can also be cut, weeded and applied using this method. We carry a substantial subset of colours with a larger range available on request. Cut transfers are the optimum choice for reflective decorations complying with Australian and New Zealand standards.
Sublimated Transfers
Sublimated transfers are printed as mono, multi-colour or photographic and are a great solution for small runs. This process is currently restricted to white, synthetic materials such as polyesters and nylons. Other very light coloured synthetics can be used but are not recommended where print colours are critical. Due to the dye-based nature of the print, the result is an extremely soft feel with excellent wash fastness.
